A Call to Prayer for Lebanon's Daughters

A Call to Prayer for Lebanon's Daughters.jpeg

Seventy-two hours ago an explosion seized and thrashed the vital port of Beirut, Lebanon to literal, little bits. The explosion blew out windows of the airport a full five miles away. Casualty and death numbers increase daily. In an instant, the number of Lebanon’s homeless people increased by at least 300,000.

Half of the once idyllic city has been utterly destroyed. The Paris of the Middle East has become a Paradise Lost.

We at Say Hello are deeply saddened by this tragedy and invite you to pray specifically for Lebanon’s 3,100,000 women with us today. Over half of them are Muslim. A little over a third classify as Christian, and the rest identify with Druze and other religions. In addition, upwards of 7,000,000 diaspora Lebanese women and girls live abroad. The loss is theirs, too, as many of them still have close ties to their motherland.

We can pray with confidence, knowing that He hears our prayers and will respond (1 Jn. 5:14-15, Heb. 4:16).

Sovereign Lord,

You, who are the “Father of compassion and the God of all comfort”(2 Cor. 1:3), shine Your face upon the women of Lebanon today, that they might know Your peace (Numbers 6:24-26). Please, be near to them. Console them as only You can. Mend their brokenness and save their crushed spirits (Ps. 34:18).

We know that with You, all things are possible (Matt. 19:26). In their despair cause them to “overflow with hope by the power of Your Spirit” (Rom. 15:13). Supernaturally, as You did with Saul (Acts 9), reveal Yourself to them in dreams and visions so that they will believe the Truth about Who You are (Jn. 14:6).

For all of our sakes, will You please use us to bless them as well, as instruments of Your love and grace (Jn. 15:16), wherever we both are (Acts 17:26-27)? As You lead, we will gladly follow (Ps. 25:5-15).

Yours is all power and glory (I Cor. 10:31),

                                                --Amen.
